  7. Hi I desperately need help choosing between 5 cars. First off. gas mileage and the price of the vehicle itself isn't a factor. Interior materials and things like that aren't issues for me either. However reliability and sportiness/power do matter to me. I have done my research and found 5 seemingly reliable cars/trucks that are sporty and that I like very much! PROBLEM IS... I CANT CHOOSE WHICH ONE TO BUY! I like how all of them drive and I like how all of them look! Each one has a major selling point to me and here they are: LEXUS IS300: tiptronic with sport mode and paddle shifting buttons that are fun to use. Also reliability from the 2jz engine. 0-60 in 7.4 seconds isn't bad at all. PONTIAC GRAND PRIX GTP SUPERCHARGED: LOVE LOVE LOVE the supercharger whine! The boost is addicting. Performance shift mode. I personally love how the car looks! 0-60 in 6.6 seconds. MAZDA 6s: nice reliable 3.0L V6 with the 5-speed shiftable automatic! Beautiful blue color with spoiler and "body kit" a website says 0-60 in 6.3 seconds. Infiniti G35 sedan: I like the fact that this car is essentially a Nissan 350z in a dress... 0-60 in 6.1 seconds Chevrolet Trailblazer: I understand that this is an oddball based on the group just given, however... This one is just a feel thing I've always liked the look and feel of the trailblazers but I've been looking more for a sporty car. 0-60 in 7.6 seconds. Any help would be appreciated! I just need someone's opinion who won't say "the Lexus because it's a nicer car" I would appreciate some good solid reasons based in reliability and performance. Thanks again! -Alex
  8. I am about to buy my first new car. I've owned 3 used cars in the past (only one bought from a dealer). I live in Alaska so all wheel drive is a must. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for me for the most fuel efficient buy that will fit these options. AWD sedan, SUV or crossover under $30,000 >30 combined MPG The most promising one I've come across so far is the Subaru XV Crosstrek. Thank you!
  9. Hi, Im a recent graduate who found his first job and is happily living life as a member of society. My scion tC has lived its life to the fullest, I loved it while I had it, but it has to go. It has 140k miles on it and I feel I'm due for a new car. After constant struggle between this and that, black or white blah blah blah, I came to the conclusion that I wanted a compact-SUV or a crossover as they are referred to sometimes. I have been doing research for about a month using kbb, NADA, youtube reviews, edmunds and consumer reports. Note, I am not rich and I am looking for a car in the 25,000 range give or take. I would highly prefer a manual transmission, however im flexible. My lifestyle: I commute to work and sometimes on the weekend I like to go to Mexico ( I live in San Diego). This means I need the car to be able to handle Mexican roads (they're not bad, but they have their rough patches). I really like camping and rock-climbing, however I've never gotten into it (outdoorsy things) due to lack of time and money. I do have my own climbing gear now that I have a job, and hopefully soon I'll be stacking up on camping gear, if I like my first couple of trips. I am possibly purchasing my car in January or February. This is no easy task and thats why I'm starting my research early, I want to make the best decision and have no buyer's remorse. My original List with the reason for dropping: - Honda CRV - Do not like the design, feels like a mom's car. Boring overall - Mazda CX-5 - Same as above, mom car. However I am aware this one has one of the best features packaged into it. - Jeep Patriot - Possible contender, however after I learned about the renegade, I decided to drop this one out. - Jeep Renegade - Finalist - Kia Soul - Finalist - Mini Countryman - Finalist - Subaru Forester - Design is mediocre (mom-ish looking car). Interior feels outdated - Nissan Juke - I dont like the design at all - Toyota Rav4 - doesnt seem like anything special, nothing really caught my attention. So my finalist are the Mini Countryman (I am still debating whether to get the S or the base). the renegade and the kia soul (this being my cheaper alternative if whatever goes wrong with my credit). Things that I am really looking for are (IN ORDER): - Reliability - MPG - Modern features (Bluetooth, maybe iOS/Android compatibility) - Coolness, Radicalness and Awesomeness - Fun/enjoyable/comfortable to ride. (I'd like to road trip on this) - Cost-to-own. I have been researching these 3 cars intensely, however (like everything) people give them great and terrible ratings and reviews. So I am kind of at a confusing crossroad. I would appreciate your opinions on these 3 cars, or if you have a really strong argument for any of the previously listed (even something not listed that I overlooked) please advise. NOTE: I am an engineer, so keep that in mind when giving your opinion, as much as I welcome points of view, I'd rather have them with something to back them up.
  10. Hi, My dad's looking at Lexus SUVs for around $15k (dealer price), but around that price you can only find older 2004-2006 SUVs with 130k+ mileage here in Alabama whereas for the same price you could get a 50k mileage 2011 RAV4, CRV, or other Honda/Toyota SUVs. But he still thinks that even older Lexus SUVs will still have better reliability, will last longer with less maintenance, have better features, have better parts like engine/transmission/suspension/etc than newer Toyota/Honda SUVs. How can I convince him otherwise? Like, are there any good sites/resources/articles with comparisons or sites where I can get detailed car specs as proof? Or am I wrong here, and older Lexus SUVs actually are better buys than newer Toyota/Honda SUVs at the same price?
  11. Hello guys! I am new here! I just want to share with you my opinion on the 2015 Ford Bronco. Why this model? Because this is one of the most popular search terms on the internet. Many websites wrote about this model and claim that it will appear this year or next year, but Ford has never confirmed this. Here is my opinion: http://2015carreview...oncept-release/ Also, earlier this month, news came out that Ford is working on the 2016 production model that will appear next year. In the end it turned out to be anything but an April Fool joke. I also joked with people, so if you want, take a look at this article: http://2015carreview...ease-date-2015/ I really would like to see the new Bronco and I hope Ford will listen the wishes of fans and customers, and that will make us happy by releasing the new model. But now, all you can find on the many car websites are only BS. What do you guys think? Would you think it will ever be released?
  12. I notice that compact suvs are same as crossover suvs. they are called crossovers because of their short height and suv because of the body style, am I right?
  13. Hello people, I write for an automotive site and we recently did a review on the Ssangyong Korando, but we are still unsure what everyone thinks of it in terms of competitors.
