  1. Hi guys, I’ve recently decided I really want to ej207 swap a gc8 style chassis 2.5rs, looked into it a bit, seen some sick builds and decide I want to do it. I’m currently scouring all the auctions and Craigslist for a good deal on a 2.5rs and just trying to find a nice one that’s is good shape. Needless to say I’m on a loose budget of around 8-15k including the car (hoping to get the car for under 5k) and I’ve seen guys do the swap for under 14k. I’ve got a friend who has a guy who can import engines from japan but I’ve done a bit of research and found that if I want the engine and the 6 speed sti tranny it would cost around 5-8K. now here’s where I’m getting a bit lost, I know heaps of guys have done this swap so I figured there would be a lot of people who would know what to do. Anyways I’m just a bit confused as to what I’d need to do extra to complete the swap and make it work. I’ve never researched much into engine swapping and I know I need to but I’m just tryna get any help I can. So anyways; here’s the things I want to know. what modifications to the drive train will I need to do to make it work with the 6speed sti tranny? Will I need to buy a wiring harness or does that generally come with the engine? how drop in and bolt on compatible will the swap be? Cause as far as I know it would be pretty basic as almost every ej engine will fit in any ej car. what modifications will I need to do to the exhaust to make it fit? and what other little fitment or technical issues will I come across? anyways thanks for the help!
  2. So I had a check engine light and replaced the part that was the issue and then cleared my codes. Failed smog since the codes were cleared and now I’m tryibg to go through a drive cycle. OBD 2 is good, and I’ve driven 122 miles since the codes were cleared. Drove 24 miles on the freeway yesterday and the O2 was good but I still needed Cat and Evap. Drove another 48 miles today going between 55-65 (pretty much a steady 60 though) and the Evap was good. Now the Cat is being an issue. Registration expired last month and I definitely need it registered by Monday so I need to pass smog (thanks california). Any idea how I can get the Cat taken care of? It’s a 1997 Subaru Legacy 2.2L I believe (I’m not entirely fluent in cars).
  3. Hey, so I'm a college guy, 24 years old, 6 ft. tall and have a slipped disk in my back due to a car accident almost 2 yr ago. I need to commute to college almost every day that takes about an hour and some change back and forth. I am basically looking for a manual transmission vehicle with either good seats/lumbar support that is easy to work/learn on, so far I have boiled it down to a Honda Accord because I love the seats since I don't really fit too well in a civic si (haven't been able to try out the type r) a Subaru Outback 2010 or newer because of the redesign/seats/lumbar support and overall look. what are some of the issues I should look out for? Are there any other manual cars I should be looking into? I was also looking into a Kia Rio. I am not looking to drop jaws wherever I go I just need a car to basically get me from point A to point B. I also not a fan of technology for the most part. And lastly, it would be fantastic to find a car that can also house 4 people comfortably who are also roughly the same height as me. any suggestions?
  4. Ford, Toyota, BMW, Subaru, Volvo, Honda and Mercedes-Benz are planning routine shutdowns at their factories, including those in the United States that started after December 21 and are expected to resume production on 2nd,January. Nissan will follow a similar shutdown schedule, but will resume production on 3rd,January. The additional shutdown period of Lansing Grand River Plant will prepare for the new production shift model starting in mid-January. People familiar with the situation said that the Lansing Grand River plant has had two production shifts and plans to cancel one. Although the assembly line operates faster, the body and spray painting will continue to maintain two production shifts. The Lansing plant employs about 1,900 people and has stopped producing ATS cars since June. Production of Cadillac CTS is expected to end in the near future with the commissioning of CT5. Chevrolet Cormelo's sales showed a double-digit decline in 2018. The situation of the whole international automobile industry is not good, leading to the closure or shutdown of most automobile factories. As the largest pump manufacturer in China, Xixia Water Pump and its pump production subsidiary also bear certain pressure. But we have a large customer base and are not affected by it as a whole.

  6. im a new driver and im looking for cars. iminterested in getting something cool and sporty looking, but that is difficult for guy my age. so far ive been looking at subaru impreza's, BMW 3series, and volkswagen golf gti's and jetta's. so far i have found a few i like but im unsure on how the insurance would be on them. my parents say that the insurance agency (State Farm) will charge alot for a two door car or if it has "sport" or anything to do with being sporty or some what fast. so far i have found a local 2003 VW golf GTI VR6, this BMW 325ci http://www.cars.com/...49924/overview/ and this Subaru impreza 2.5 rs http://www.cars.com/...12456/overview/ so im pretty much asking what would be the best deal for a kid my age insurance wise and what would be "cool" for someone my age? thanks,
  7. Quick question: Would anyone happen to know if any 1998 subaru impreza wrx sti's are still being sold at used car dealerships or by individual owners? I've had my eye on that car for a bit but I can't find it anywhere. I'm only 16 so I wouldn't really be buying one anytime too soon but I was just curious. Oh, and if there is a place where they can be found please let me know.
  8. Im shopping around for an AWD sports car. Ive narrowed it down to the Porsche 911, Mitsubishi Evo, or Subaru Impreza. I have my mind set on one of these three so dont try to change my mind. Ive got a 20000 dollar budget and ive found each of these cars for that price and less. The 911 i was thinking between 1999-2003, and the evo and impreza could be any year really. I need advice. Pros cons on each one, hoping to head from people who may actually own one of them. Thanks!(:
  9. So I'm selling my two cars which will bring me at least $12,000 to $18,000 in cash and I know that Subaru's are really good and reliable cars. I'm 17 and very good with cars. So looking at a car that will last and that I can have fun working on. So the car I'm looking at is a 1996 Subaru Impreza and I looked up the reliability of these cars and the 1995, 1996 are the most reliable in all categories. Wondering what everyone thinks and suggestions?
