  1. I recently bought a 1993 stock toyota corolla dx wagon aka toyota corolla ae103 as a family car but the engine is to far gone and im looking to put in something more powerful than its stock but with as little modifications as possible, like maybe just change out the engine brackets but nothing major ( a drop out-drop in situation pretty much) any advice on what engine i can put in? This is the car btw https://images.app.goo.gl/CE9iBS52mJyMdLyJ7
  2. So i bought this 91 corolla about 10 months ago for a daily. For the first 3-4 months it ran perfectly fine. Then one day it died whole idling. i started it again and it ran and drove fine for about 30 minutes, it then started violently cutting out for a little but would never die. I decided to turn around and go back home.. but it died as soon as i came to a stop beside the road. finally got it to start again and made it a little ways just to have it die again and would never start. got towed to a mechanic. they replaced the distributor. it ran totally fine for a few months again. then the cutting out started again. it would run fine for a week but then suddenly start cutting out. finally got bad enough it wouldn’t even start. i replaced the ignition coil and it started perfectly and ran perfect for about 100 miles. then started cutting out again. i’m back at square one. could be possible that a rat got into some wiring but everything else works perfectly fine. anytime i take the ignition coil or distributor apart it runs for a little afterwards so seems like it might have something to do with that. anyone have any ideas where to start?
  3. I have a 2008 toyota corolla s 5-speed manual transmission and my idle speed is too low when waiting in traffic and it has been low enough to kill the car, So i need to know how to change that but also the knock sensor location I cant find.
  4. I was installing an aftermarket radio in my Corolla, and like an idiot I left the battery hooked up. The wrong two wires touched, and I heard a sizzle. I finished installing the radio, but there is no power to it. Also not sure if it's related, but the open door light also isn't coming on. Everything else seems to be working fine. Radio fuse looks ok. What could be wrong?
  5. hi guys can you help me choose a car. im only looking at lancer 94-96 model. the one that you can make look like evo 3. corolla big body or sentra either eccs or super touring. im looking to mod for racing. im kinda torn between the 3. 4g63t with evo 3 is what i really like. but i read lots of negative comments on mitsubishi. bushing problems, suspension isnt good, bad reliability and i dont know if it is true. on sentra im looking to put either the sr20de or ve. and on toyota im leaning on 4efte and tweak it to achieve better hp but maintain the 1300 cc for lower gas consumption. which do you guys of the three is the best choice for me?
  6. I found a 2001 Toyota Corolla with 200k miles on it on Craigslist and also a 1997 Chevy Cavalier with 88k miles on it. Obviously, 88k miles is a lot less than 200k miles, but I'm wondering if it would even matter considering Toyotas run forever. I need a reliable car for college (I will be commuting everyday for college this fall) and both have minimal/no rust. My mom owns a 1999 Toyota Camry and it is still running today (over 200k miles, check engine light is on but not sure what the problem is, it is also very loud), so a Corolla would still be a good choice based on what I've heard and seen. Which should I go with? I do not drive a lot outside of the fact that I will be going to college (about 20-25 miles there and back). I also would take very good care of whichever one I go with (oil changes, washing, driving), but is the Chevy the best choice because it has the lower miles? I live in Upstate NY, so the winter is definitely harsh on cars here. Thanks for the help!
  7. Besides gas, how much does it cost to put 500 highway miles on my car. I'm thinking in terms of maintenance, wear, and depreciation. Here's an example: I could spend $66 on gas for a 500 mile round trip over a weekend in my Corolla. Alternatively, I could spend $80 for the same round trip with a budget airline (already factoring in cost of getting to airport, parking my car, fees, etc.). Then my question is: should I spend the extra $14 to save mileage on my car or should I stick with driving? Summarized: $66 in gas, but put 500 miles on car OR $80 to fly, but avoid putting wear on my car. What if I avoided tolls and could drive for $55? Thanks!
