  1. I am seeking advice and recommendations in my search for new (used) car that will fit my comute to my new job. I will be driving about 75 miles each way making it about 750 miles per week (mainly highway). I have a budget of about $7000. Is there any affordable and reliable brands/models that you guys can recommend I should be looking for? I’d much appreciate the help!
  2. I'm looking to buy a larger sized SUV (6+ pass). Based on what I'm reading online it seems that the Toyota Highlander is considered the most reliable and longer lasting SUV. I won't be putting on many miles on the vehicle. My most recent car was a Chevy Cruze, and over the course of 2 years I put on a total of 13K miles with 60-70% of it was long distance miles. I'm not really good at this and my head is spinning from all the options. Should I buy a fairly-new used car with low miles and sell it 5 years or rather an older car with higher miles since I won't use it that much anyway? My goal is lowest cost of ownership for the newest possible vehicle.
  3. I’m looking to purchase a used AWD crossover or suv. I want a runner, something that’ll last 200,000+ with proper upkeep of course. Something with good gas mileage, mid 20s and above. I don’t want to spend more than $10,000 but also want it to have less than 100,000 miles on it currently. I don’t have a preference for year. So far I’ve been leaning towards Rav4, Highlander, and CRV. Any suggestions are appreciated!
  4. I wonder if someone could advice me on this. Last week I bought a 'new' Vauxhall Grandland 1.6 Hybrid. The dealer offered it cheaper because it was registered from September yet it only had 9 miles on the clock. I should have collected last weekend but the dealer told me they could not give it to me because there have been some recalls on the vehicle and the software had to be updated. However they spent the whole day trying and the update was not going through so the Vauxhall dealer could not do it and they would need to call a Vauxhall engineer to come down and do it. I don't know anything about cars and would appreciate advice from those who do on the next points: 1/ Is it normal that a brand new vehicle has recalls even before leaving the dealer? 2/ Is it normal that the vehicle cannot be repaired by the own brand's dealer? 3/ I am right to be suspicious about a vehicle which has been registered since September yet has not been sold and now it seems to be having problems 4/ Could I get my money back if requested within the first 14 days of the purchase? I need my car to go to work and my job does not allow me to take days off sort notice under the current situation (essential worker) Thank you in advance
  5. Hello everyone! So I bought a 2008 Camry with under 100,000 miles on it for about $8,000. It now has hit 150,000 and I am debating when I should consider selling it or just keeping it. Big caveat is that it is a salvage title. After careful inspection, there was no internal damage on the front but after a couple of years, I have noticed that the paint job was not done well and now it's peeling and there are some rust spots. The car drives fantastic and I've had no issues with it other than standard servicing when it was due. I am a big Ramsey guy so I only plan to buy cars in cash.
  6. Hi! I just want to share a few hints!) Sometimes there are situations when your steering wheel is locked. For the first time, it seems scary and insoluble. Especially if you urgently need to go somewhere. But do not worry. Moreover, you insert the key to try to do at least something, and he will tightly build up in the well. And doesn’t turn anywhere. What to do in such a situation? This problem is very easily solved. You can unlock the wheel yourself in a couple of minutes and now we will tell you how to do it. To unlock the steering wheel, place one hand on the steering wheel and insert the ignition key with the other. Turn the steering wheel and key at the same time. Very much. After a few attempts, the steering wheel unlocks. Cars With a Start Button If you have a car with a button, turn it off. Do the same, but hold down the button instead of the ignition key. Another reason that the ignition key cannot be turned may be that the key hole is clogged. In this case, you need to clean it. Now we will tell you how to do it very quickly and at home. Take silicone grease from pour directly into the keyhole. Insert the key and turn it to one side and the other. Try to scroll well. All the dirt that was in the keyhole will remain on the key. Remove the key and wipe it off with grease with a tissue. (more information on https://automotivecraze.com/how-to-unlock-your-steering-wheel/)
  7. Hey guys so i’m in a bit of a dilemma I am planning on buying a 2012 Nissan either Maxima or Altima. Both cars are the same price but the Atlima’s headlight is broken, however it does have only a 150,000 kms on it compared to the Maxima I am looking at which has 195,000 kms. Both are fully loaded and all but I’m just debating which one to buy I like the fuel effiency of the Altima more but I don’t want to have to wait 2 weeks to get the light and tiny crack (tiniest crack below the headlight) on the bumper fixed. So I ask you guys for your advice which one do you think I should buy?
  8. Hey, all. I just got my first car. The biggest repairs are finished up and now I'm looking to make it feel more like home. Something I'm looking for in particular is interior lighting (the LED/neon lights under the dash and the seats). What are some of your favorite brands/products and what do you recommend?
  9. My dad and I are going to go down to Missouri to pick up a 1978 Chevrolet Malibu. We had some ideas for it like making a car that was fast on the street and fast on dirt. We like the idea of some wide tires on the front and rear. We are likely going to drop a 4 speed manual transmission and a 350 small block in it. I want to know if dirt track tires are street legal, what kinds are recommended for cheap, and if they’ll last long being that they’re made for dirt and not asphalt. It’s just a little project, and some ideas right now.

  11. Hi, first time here but looking for some advice from someone with some experience. Im looking to get a new car, mainly because I sail small dinghies and need to tow one around without destroying my fuel economy and I was under the impression that the torque of a diesel would deal with the added wind resistance better (they don't add much in the way of weight, just size). Due to some good reviews and some drives in a friends I was looking at a ford focus hatchback, no more than 3 years old, and found that around my price range (8k) I could get either a 2010 1.8l or a 2011 1.6. Does anyone have any experience or recommendations as to which would better for dealing with relatively long journeys with a boat behind?
