  1. I have a 2004 BMW X5 4.4i, and every time I turn the steering wheel sticks at about 45 degrees in either direction. I have no idea what possibly could be causing this, my original guess was the power steering pump, but because the power steering seems fine until i get to a certain point in turning, I don't think that's it. any help would be appreciated, I'm trying to save money by figuring out exactly the problem, instead of just replacing a bunch of parts until its fixed.
  2. Hello everyone, I just got this tough task done and want to share my experience with you all. After replacing steering angle sensor, we need to code the steering angle, and then adjust the sensor. I used a Topdon ArtiPad to do this. Here below are my steps: 1. Coding/Program -> X series ->X3_E83 ->Coding 2. Choose corresponding system, e.g. LWS 3. Choose coding 4. Tap into special functions, enter LWS learning, tap OK 5. When the learning is done, it will show current steering angle=0.0 6. Ignition OFF, wait for 10s, ignition ON again, scan the system to read DTC, if the learning is succeed, DTC will be cleared.
  3. I have a 2014 Ford Escape with Sync. I just notice more recently that the texture on the steering wheel is coming off in the bottom corner of where here I usually place my left had. I know this isn't such a big deal but the rest of the steering wheel looks brand new and if possible, I'd like to keep it that way. Is there any repair kits or paints that would put the texture back on to the worn spots or would I either need a shop to repair it or a whole new steering wheel. Thanks for your help.
  4. Hi! I just want to share a few hints!) Sometimes there are situations when your steering wheel is locked. For the first time, it seems scary and insoluble. Especially if you urgently need to go somewhere. But do not worry. Moreover, you insert the key to try to do at least something, and he will tightly build up in the well. And doesn’t turn anywhere. What to do in such a situation? This problem is very easily solved. You can unlock the wheel yourself in a couple of minutes and now we will tell you how to do it. To unlock the steering wheel, place one hand on the steering wheel and insert the ignition key with the other. Turn the steering wheel and key at the same time. Very much. After a few attempts, the steering wheel unlocks. Cars With a Start Button If you have a car with a button, turn it off. Do the same, but hold down the button instead of the ignition key. Another reason that the ignition key cannot be turned may be that the key hole is clogged. In this case, you need to clean it. Now we will tell you how to do it very quickly and at home. Take silicone grease from pour directly into the keyhole. Insert the key and turn it to one side and the other. Try to scroll well. All the dirt that was in the keyhole will remain on the key. Remove the key and wipe it off with grease with a tissue. (more information on https://automotivecraze.com/how-to-unlock-your-steering-wheel/)
  5. Hello everyone, I have a fiat grande punto and I'm facing a steering wheel problem. When I turn the wheel to the left or right the steering wheel light will come on and the wheel becomes very stiff to steer or turn. I have to stop and start the car to get rid of the problem temporarily till I keep turning right or left again it becomes stiff right away (maximum 10sec of turning and the problem comes back) What's causing that? and how can I solve it? Thank you!
  6. Hello All, I'm facing steering wheel vibrations when I go past 120KMPH. Can someone please tell me what's causing the problem? The car (steering) vibrates on the following two occasions. i. When I go in high speed and then continue to press the gas ii. When I go in high speed and apply brake (it's shaking really bad) Just wanted to give a little background to see if any of these things can relate to the problem. #1- I resurfaced my front rotors couple of months back and put new brake pads. And the steering wheel pump was making a squeaking noise which was also fixed by the mechanic back then. After couple of weeks, the ABS lighted turned on itself and there's this vibrating sound (like two metals are in contact) when I applied brake. The steering wheel made some weird noises in slow turns as well. So, I took the car to a different mechanic who changed one of the ABS sensors and I was told that the steering wheel noise while turning in slow speed was due to a loosen nut. As for the noise that came in when I applied brake, it disappeared on its own. I'm still not sure that vibrating sound was due to ABS failure or something that's still lurking!. #2 - I changed all my four tyres couple of weeks back after spotting dry rots in my old Michelin in just under 30K KMs of use. The fitting and alignment was done by the vendor. I'm currently clueless as to what's causing my car/steering wheel to vibrate in high speeds especially when I apply brakes. I would much appreciate your help in understanding the problem and whether it's an indication of any costly repair. Thank you so much for the help!
  7. A new automotive safety accessory: a steering wheel cover that would vibrate in unsafe driving conditions that detects high BAC, abnormal heart rates, and absence of hands on the wheel. We find this accessory to help create safe roads and to be an incentive to help reduce the cost of insurance. Where do you see benefits in this product? Where is this lacking value? What additional features to this product could interest you? Have you ever heard of a product comparable to this one?
