Happy Sunday, Matt! How was your morning?

Nah, never.

I'm not really sure how much youtube has helped me.

I'm pretty sure the guy at the yard would probably be willing to do it for 50-100 dollars I would think.

Neither have I.

I watched my dad take of the driver side door of his car once...wasn't paying too much attention though.

Youtube can be really helpful sometimes. It has helped me on numerous instances. Just have to watch it over and over again.

It would be awesome if they yellow was an exact match, enough that I didn't have to have the tech school match it with the rest of the car.

They're both the exact same yellow, i'm just thinking one will be a little more faded than the other.

I really hope you don't need to have the tech school match it.

But, you never know...things can work out providently. (Fingers crossed...🤞)

Well, the salvage yard said they won't do it even for pay because they aren't a licensed repair facility.

I'm thinking, I'll pay my friend, he'll drive and follow me in his SUV, pick up the door, drive back. Then the next day, we'll take it to the school I go to, which has an auto repair shop, but not a body shop, and they'll put it on for me.

That's what i'm thinking I'll have to do.

Good thinking...you could also pay the salvage yard guys to drop the door off at the tech school too...but I guess it's nice to pay a friend instead.

You mentioned that the tech school do not have a body shop. Does this mean you would have to take it elsewhere to paint the body if the new door paint is faded?

Yes, I would.

First I need to find out if that tech school would be willing in a relatively short notice.

And happy Sunday to you also!.......just a little late on my part

My friend said he'd be willing, no problems there. I asked the shop the price of shipping it, and it'd be like 300 dollars, so I don't think we're going to do that.

I didn't ask them about dropping it off at the tech school, but pretty sure it'd be more than paying my friend.

So... about the paint. How much different do you think the new door will be from the rest of the car? Keep in mind the new door and the car are the exact same shade of yellow.

It's hard to say.

If the car was placed in the open where the sun blasts all day, more than likely the yellow color will be faded.

It also depends on how long it was kept there. (I'm hoping less than 2 years)

We'll see

I'll have to ask the body guy at the other tech school and see what he says.

I'll give you a summary.

There are three tech schools, the one I go to, the one I contacted earlier, and the one i'm talking about now.

I'm going to have them put the door on at my school.

Earlier, I asked the auto body head at the other tech school, Ellis, and he said they could blend the paint, but they seem busy.

This tech school, Grasso, one of my teachers used to work there and he's got connections, he said he could guarantee he could make them work on my car pretty quickly.

I'll call them tomorrow and ask about how well they can blend it.

It's a shame my school doesn't have an auto body shop! Sure would save time, trouble, and fuel.

Yeah, it is

The door was originally 200, but the guy at the yard said he'll charge me 150, so there's that.

I plan to pay my friend by giving him one of my old bikes I don't use, Mcdonalds, and gas money. He needs the gas money badly.........13 mpg......

Awesome...never heard of a bike burning that much fuel. A 2wd perhaps?
