mariah
I'm looking for a reliable car with decent fuel economy. I've found 2 cars that I like. The first is an 09 Pontiac G5, 44,000km, automatic, coupe, $8000. The second is an 04 Honda Civic, 158,000km, manual, coupe, $4000. I like the looks and the low kms of the G5, but the price of the Civic is hard to beat. What are your thoughts?
99integra
I wouldn't even think twice, I'd take the Pontiac if you have the money.
Elite_Deforce
I wouldn't even think twice either. Find a Civic in the middle of the price range.

Its nothing more than a cobalt (maybe a little less than) lol. But you are right they aren't the best cars (nor the worst), but for the money and the mileage between the two he was thinking about, I would scoop it up in a heartbeat. I'm a little biased towards the Civic. Edited March 12, 2012 by 99integra

Haha its a long story with my username, but no I have never owned one. I have had a '91 cavalier wagon, '94 cavalier z24 convertible (swapped a free 3400 I got from a friend into it, was fast for a week then blew up), '93 Ranger stepside (best truck ive ever owned) and a '04 Ranger (bought for $600 off a fleet, had 240k on it, lasted a month). And had a 03 Altima that was my mothers car she bought new, fully loaded 2.5SL and the engine blew up 6 months ago at 85k miles. Scrapped it. Those Nissan 4-bangers just keep getting a worse and worse rep don't they? 85k is laughable. Was it well-maintained?
99integra
Yep, never missed an oil change, lube, or inspection at the dealer. It was a great car while it ran but that engine gave us problems. We drove from Florida to Ohio to move and after we got here, 2 weeks later it blew. I had an '07 3.5 as per my sig and that was a piece of garbage as well.

99integra
6 years, my mom bought the car when i was 13 so when i got a job at 16, she turned disabled and i had to help on payments. It turned out our loan took longer to pay off than expected. It was one of the worst decisions we've made.
