Wally
I guess that's a task for Elite. JDM cars tend to have a good reputation.
dr. joint
Yes they do. The Crown is virtually indestructible and still rides like a Merc after all the years of beating and abuse. JDM cars rule. I wonder if Subaru's are all made in Japan. JDM cars are a rare commodity these days. Only JDM sold here is I think the Suzuki Swift and Grand Vitara and the Nissan Teana. Elite_Deforce
Ah. Would a Japanese made Altima make much of a difference? I mean my Dad's Crown is an original Japan import (so spare parts are virtually non existent here) but it is a Toyota. Older Altima's were much better then? I cant imagine the hybrid version, how that feels like after all the things you said about the Altima. Maybe, but the materials really are that terrible that it probably wouldn't. It's surprising cause the old VQ35 was such a fantastic engine and now they managed to make it terrible. Older nissans were better in general. I always said there are two eras of Nissan. Mechanical and Electronic

Elite_Deforce
I've heard so many good things about the VQ engine. What a pity. They screwed it up with the new ECU. It is a fantastic engine. Which is apparently Renault sourced or some bullshit. (that was a joke) Side note: now that I mentioned it, I did research, and the VQ in the Z33 was not a Renault engine, in fact it is the other way around. Renault used it in some of their cars, but it is solely a Nissan engine. Case CLOSED Edited April 27, 2010 by Elite_Deforce
Wally
VQ engines were great for their day. The 45 was popular here with twin hairdryers fitted. In 1986 we also had the RB30ET fitted to our VL commodores, great engine for a family car at the time, and tricked up nicely to the mid 400 ponies with some modest additions. It was the reason why the Cefiro remained more popular in it's heydey than the current Teana. But the Teana uses a revised VQ engine as well. Are we on the same wavelength here? Does this mean the Teana is let down by the ECU of the revised VQ?

dr. joint
And i guess it was only last year that the Subaru 2.5 boxer engine made it on Ward's top 10 list also.
