Elite_Deforce
It's well known that in the 2.5 and even the 1.8 liter Nissan's the engine and tranny combo, can't handle as much as a beating as the V6 models. Truth be told that those are really the only good engines that Nissan has right now (not including the GTR that's an entirley different animal by itself). They deffinatley outrun their foreign competitors. If i had my choice though I'd take a Ford V6 with Nissan tranny. But that's not reality at least not yet. Have you ever driven the V6 with the manual tranny? It's a piece of garbage literally. DBR, answer your question? Also the interior is terrible and the visibility sucks. Elite_Deforce
What happened to it? Engine failure? Electrical problem? BHG? Clutch failed twice, ECU was a total piece kept hanging and revving Nissan didn't see that there was a problem I told them they should reevaluate their lives, engine mounts started failing, interior pieces fell off not to mention the wear and tear was evident/annoying, synchros were finished, and Bluetooth system didn't allow the use of the stereo. And this is in comparison to....? I don't know.... a good car maybe?

That's shocking How many miles did it have when you were done with it? And were you thrashing it constantly or just driving normally? I assume you didn't do anything stupid like take it off road or anything like that?
dr. joint
It's not surprising actually, and I guess I'm talking about the interior pieces falling out. It's an area that Nissan has to improve on. Have you seen the X-trail's interior? There is more wear on the interior of my bud's 2008 X-trail than on my 2000 Mirage. The aircon vents feel flimpsy and the drink cooler cover lid was made from cardboard.
2007DBR9
Really? I know someone who has a 2003 X Trail and it seems alright. Gets a hell of a beating, has done 150k miles, half of which were off road! There is a lot of room in the back of them

I don't know.... a good car maybe? I'll agree with you to some extent. When Nissan shifted and made the cars more electronic than mechanical they screwed up, because everything is so intertwined that once one thing fails electronically almost everything goes right behind it with almost no way to overide it. As far as the clutch, engine mounts, and the inerior goes I venture to say that some details might be left out, cause I have had mine as a daily driver since 02 and I can easily put almost 100 mi on it a day. I have never had to replace any of that and never any problems with the interior unless I'm ripping it up myself. Which was the case once. Nissan's service does suck in the sense that once you buy one even with warranty they have a mentality of it's no longer their problem just yours. I'm no scholar of a mechanic by any means, but I do know how to take care of my stuff.
dr. joint
I mean, proper care will help preserve the car but to some extent, the switches feel umm... clumsy. The materials used for the dash and the panels looked low quality (if even in fact they're not) and would feel like its falling apart. Considering the x-trail is a good cuv. Tsk tsk. And it was driven in multiple conditions. I had it only twice and I babied it so I wouldn't be able to say. It was thrashed a view times for testing purposes and the logbook had an endless list of complaints. The biggest was the amount of torque the engine makes is let down by the ECU and the shittyness of the tranny. No offroading Really? I know someone who has a 2003 X Trail and it seems alright. There is a lot of room in the back of them The SUVs and such can usually log that much mileage with little problems given maintenance is done, however I still think the X-trail is a piece of shit if you want something in that class. And yes, mechanical-age Nissans were epic. I mean, proper care will help preserve the car but to some extent, the switches feel umm... clumsy. Holy #### that's only like 50k miles! I don't know why you moan about VW when crap like that exists Just saying this one has been thrashed to hell and treated like crap. And it still works fine. Grantes it rides like a boat, but it is not all that bad. Over here there is not much choice in that segment.

dr. joint
Ah. Would a Japanese made Altima make much of a difference? I mean my Dad's Crown is an original Japan import (so spare parts are virtually non existent here) but it is a Toyota. Older Altima's were much better then? I cant imagine the hybrid version, how that feels like after all the things you said about the Altima.
