that may be... but in my friends' and my experience i wouldn't recommend one to anyone...

You friends probably had 4-cyl '96 Altima's with the Oxygen sensor problems, which wasn't a big deal. Otherwise, of all the Nissan owners I know, they are very reliable, and I know because I owned three of them. It is impossible to find a bad Infiniti in the current lineup, and stay above $25k sticker price models, all Nissans are great..... except for the Quest...

that may be... but only one of my friends used to have an altima... the others had Z-series... 206's and such... one has a 250 he's trying to fix and get rid of...

Cause Nissan is actually one of the best.

Thanks to Renault, yes, Nissan has had a resurgence. I've experienced nissans before, my dad's '91 Sentra and a '95 vanette, back then Renault had no influence on Nissan but those cars are soooo reliable. My only caveat about nissan's are the outrageously expensive spare parts (at least in our country.) But they're reliable and fuel efficient as well.

The Lincoln looks like the sheriff of an old texan town with a walrus mustache and an old cowboy hat. ;)

How big an influence do you think REnault has on NIssan?

I may not know much about Renault (coz they're not sold here locally) but it's just like how Mitsubishi benefitted extensively under daimler-chrysler: a huge improvement in quality of materials used in their cars and roadholding manners. Europeans obviously prefer a little bit of pampering by using higher quality plastics and leather materials in their cars, coupled with a much-behaved suspension set-up.

About Nissan, well, Carlos Ghosn did the right thing by eliminating all those ageing nissan platforms (nissan has platforms for almost every model car) from, say 74 to like 12 and gave specific instructions to improve overall build quality, just like how a global-platform car should. The designs of the latest model nissans (the Teana, in particular) shows how much of renault is indeed injected into the blood of the japanese company, from the design itself to how the car feels when driven (soft and cosseting.) Sure it ain't an accord or camry beater, but it's good to know that nissan is back in the luxury game. The GTR is also proof positive of Nissan's commitment to the sports car arena, obviously benefitting fom being tested at the nurburgring, giving the car superior road-holding feel, all thanks to Renault.

Fair answer. But boy, i bet the stockholders of nissan went on an all-night drinking spree when they finally posted profit (after the merger with renault!) ;)

It can be argued that Renault's involvement wasn't the sole reason for Nissans comeback. It can be argued that it was in fact because of the NRP and the current CEO, watever his name is.
