they might be exspenive to some and normal to others, they are worth the money. There are some cheaper cars euro cars out there such as the Volvo V40 and others.

The leading Euro cars are a little overpriced. For example Mercedes(that's my favorite car BTW) and BMW are overpriced. They could sell them cheaper, but the name costs. They are so expensive because people by them anyway and so MB and BMW can make more profit. Not all European cars are overpriced.

European cars are expensive outside Europe. American cars are expensive outside the US. That's a fact. Due to high import-taxes from the governments (to protect their domestic industry) imported cars are more expensive.

How do the prices of VWs, or other cars that are sold in Europe and America, compare? I'm sure that they will be the same amount in $ as they are in British pounds.

Americans pay less for most things.

When I think of European cars I think of high performance, luxury sedans and coupes (MB and Bimmer's). Of course, there are those that don't fall into that category (VW's are pretty cheap, TVR's and Lotus' aren't luxury coupes). So when you pay that much, you're getting more than a Honda Civic. You get Reliability, Luxury, performance, and tons and tons of creature comforts (leather, power...). Oh yeah, you get the name recognition, too. Worth the money.
