Low mileage Corolla vs. high mileage ES 350

A family member with a 2007 Lexus ES 350 with about 175,000 miles recently suggested they may give me their car. Does anyone here have an idea of how that car might work for me over say the next 5 years? I currently have a Corolla S from 2003 with just about 70,000 miles on it. It's obviously cheap and works great, but I now have three kids, so the whole family can only travel in our other car. On the one hand, the Lexus is obviously a much nicer car and it could be great to have a car that fits the whole family, but I'm wary of messing up my current situation (the flexibility of a 2nd car at very low costs) and finding I need to put serious money into it soon. What I really wouldn't want to do is go have to buy a car in the next three years.

I'm not really a car guy, so any thoughts would be appreciated.
