To start, the car I'm gonna get has to be coupe and stick.
I can't get a german car because I have a family full of Holocaust survives, and they would resent me for it...
My budget is supposed to be under ten.
Right now I'm looking at an Acura RSX Type S (probably 02-03), the only turn off is that it is FWD. (I'm in LA, so slippery surfaces are not a problem)
Is there a car that would potentially be a better choice? Nissan?
Don't care if it take high octane cause its usually only a $2 difference around me...
BTW, its just gonna be a daily for right now.

Most of your Japanese or American choices in that price range are going to be older or FWD. So that's going to have to be a non-issue. The Acura is a good choice overall, unless you're willing to go older and look for a Nissan, Mazda, or Toyota RWD car, like a Z car of some sort (and again, the 300ZX wil be older, as would a Mazda RX7 Turbo II). A Lexus SC300 can be had with a stick, as can the IS200 (though that's a 4 door, it's a very nice small 4 door) and both are RWD.

Normally I'd also say look into Mustangs, but the ones in your price range are older or V6 versions and I'm not so sure you'd like them. '05 and up are decent cars, but are over $10k for good ones (I paid $16k for my '06 GT).

You would be silly to discount German brands, the E36 would suit your needs perfectly and is much better than everything suggested here.

The IS200 is not bad, but totally gutless. You can get an IS300, but they are auto only.

How could you not consider a 350z or RX8? I've seen Z's with a bit more miles coming in the 9-10k range... and they are pretty bulletproof as far as long term reliability.

The RX8's would be an option... but their reliability is absolute garbage. I had one, and it had every issue that they all have. Would never start in the cold, fuel pump issues, Apex seals blew... had to have engine replaced at 34k miles... The hassle I had to go through for Mazda to replace my engine under warranty was ridiculous. (because I did my maintenances myself, and therefore had basically only my word... they fought me tooth and nail about fixing the engine)
Anyway... I sold it as soon as I got it fixed and bought a 350z... was an excellent choice
I will never own another Mazda product as long as I am on this earth!
