I need help finding a car i sold in the 80's

Help, i sold a Merc 320csl in the 80's that was on a private plate and i now want to find it to buy it back.

I have the vin number but the dvla wont give me the new reg number and owner due to data protection.

I also contacted the person i sold it to but as he had registered this car under his company when the company went under the car was taken to pay debts.. Again no one will give me details due to data protection..

Anyone got any ideas.????

I guess you could write to some Mercedes owners clubs/mags/forums etc for thier help?
I often read it in the Practical Classics mag, people who are often trying to track down their old car to either buy back or just see again!

Is it really possible to track down our old car if ever we have sold it to someone.. I as just wondering cos I haven't tried it before..
