Hi, I drive a 2002 Volvo S40 1.8 and the remote central locking needs some attention. My friend has a simular car which flashes the lights twice when you press unlock on the key and then flashes once when you lock the car with the button on the key. My car does flash twice when you unlock it with the remote locking but does not flash again when you lock it. The car is fully armed and the only way to open it is with the key itself but I fear there is a problem and reason why the lights do not flash when you lock it. When the car is locked you can move about inside and the alarm won't go off and there is a little led lamp on the dashboard which apparently should flash red when the alarm is on but again that doesn't flash. When I bought the car, inside the envelope of paperwork was what I believe to be a fuse, small with two prongs coming out and pinky colour plastic at the top and a small washer was there too, could this have been removed from the locking unit or alarm and be why the alarm doesn't seem to work? I would be grateful for any feedback and try any suggested options as I don't fancy having a car with a potentially disabled alarm! Many thanks.

I have an '04 Volvo as per my sig and mine does quite the opposite, no flash for unlock and flash once for lock, and my red dash light words. In your case, it might be a fuse, so look through the manual and try pulling it and see what the deal is. Otherwise, if you are worried about your alarm not working, why don't you just test it by unlocking the car from the inside after locking it with the key?

I sat in the car and moved about the alarm didn't go off, I can start the engine with the key after it's been locked with the key and get out from inside and the alarm won't go off for some reason! Lights flash when the car unlocks and the alarm works with the panic button on the key you can use to set the alarm off which i didn't think would be the case if a fuse had blown? I will have a look at the fuse box and check everything is in good order but if not looks like it will have to go to a garage
Thanks anyway!

My Jeep Cherokee have an alarm system. The door is only unlocked when I use the remote control. When I try to do so with keys, it unlocks it but the alarm trips. The car starts for a moment and turns of immediately.
The problem started when once I got my remote control wet. That time, it didn’t work until it was dry. It started working but after some days, the current problem started. I then changed the remote control but the problem persists. So I thing its not the remote control which has the malfunctioning. Somewhere its something else.
Is there anything else I can do in order to solve my trouble?
