Gear ratio issue?

When approaching lights, I like to stop accelerating and roll the car to a stop to save petrol, but in my gfs Honda jazz '04 auto, I notice the car slows down significantly when it hits low speeds (30km) rolling. Infact, I reckon I roll twice the distance on neutral then in drive when I slow to about 35km.
The car gets serviced regularly, but I'm guessing there's a gear ratio problem in the auto.
Any thoughts?

There's no gear ratio problem, it's simply shifting down to first, like it's programmed to do at low speeds, much like the driver of a manual transmission might do in order to be ready to accellerate briskly again if needed. It is normal operation.

I used to have an Accord that did the same thing...
I will agree with Chris V. on this one.

Thanks for replies, I guess I think i thought it seems wrong because I drive a '09 accord, and when it hits 30kph it doesn't drop as quick and once it hits 25kpm it doesn't drop anymore, its constant from there.
The jazz drops to 5kph and then speed is constant from there on.

The Jazz is a much smaller car than the Accord, with a smaller engine that needs to rev higher at the same road speeds, and needs to shift more often in order to provide the performance that the Accord would have had. The Accord is also tuned a bit more for luxury, and can afford to be tuned for luxury, given that it has a larger engine (at least I'm assuming your '09 had the larger engine, and not the smallest 4cyl that Honda put in that car)

Even an Accord with a 4-cylinder engine would have at least 2-0-litres to play with, if not 2.2, which would obviously still be smoother at higher speeds than a Jazz. Or should be at least!

Hmmmm... you guys have driven some weird ass autos. Everything I've driven doesn't downshift into 1, or at least doesn't seem like it does.

Were you driving larger or smaller cars with automatics, and were they as "sporty" as the Jazz/Fit? My BMW does it, and the MINI Cooper loaner car I had did. So did my V8 RX7, but it was a bit more violent about it.

Recently I purchased a second hand Wagor R. I didn’t have any kind of experience so didn’t checked the oil and water regularly. Recently my mechanic told me that the gasket had burst and it need to be changed. Then he suggested repairing the head is a better choice so I agreed. Now the problem is the car stops in the midway and once its stopped, it become too tough to restart it. Apart from that, it drinks too much water. I am afraid the problem may increase in the long term. Please suggest, should I change the head or there is something else which is wrong with the car.
