If I were going to buy a Range Rover, I would do it properly and get a proper full fat Range Rover with either the supercharged V8, or the TDV8.
I don't like the Sport - IMO they are very tacky and nowhere near as nice to sit in or drive as the proper one.

I agree. I'll take an XC60 anyday.

I really like smaller luxury vehicles (I know, ironic coming from a guy with a long wheelbase 7 series), and would enjoy it if more people got the luxury they needed in smaller packages.

I couldn't help feeling that the Sport felt far too similar to a Discovery to drive, and if I were to spend that much money I would want something that felt really special - so I would buy the FFRR.

True. I adore the Volvo XC60 but the Evoque is a different breed of animal.
I wouldn't mind driving the Evoque. Nor would it matter if people will look at me as the best new hairstylist in town.
The fact that Land Rover made a brilliant effort to come up with a small crossover that is fashionable, unique and off-road capable makes me blush like a freakin' retard.

The Disco felt too top heavy and tipsy to me, especially when going around corners. The lower and wider RR Sport felt more planted in the corners. And the interior was better, to me. the full Range Rover was even nicer inside, but the Sport fit it's role (and was better than my '01 RR HSE by far)

A white Evoke parked next to me yesterday, they are much smaller than I thought. Looked fairly smart though, but I wouldn't buy one. I will see if I can get a go in one and see how they drive and report back

Seen a few of these at good prices recently, but they do have the potential to be a bit of a money pit. How well did your one last? I know of one that is getting a full engine rebuild at the moment, but the rest of the car is in full working order.

This was my third Range Rover and I love them. My other two were these:

I have a big soft spot for the old RR Classic, don't see very many about these days which is a shame.

Oh, edit here, I had a look at an Evoque today, got close to it as it was in a multi-level car park. I really love it now, are they all 3 door?
Interior is nice too, looks like it hugs you if thats a good way of describing it?
It had the SD4 engine, which without looking, Im assuming is a 2/2.2diesel?
