The brand new heart throbbing Evoque is out. With great interiors and powerful engine it posses threat to all other SUVs in its price range.

Saw one on the road the other night. Looks really good, I think. Bad blind spots to the rear, but sexy styling. Still, I'd rather have a Range Rover Sport Supercharged.

I am not a fan at all, it seems more of a fashion accessory.

If I were going to buy a Range Rover, I would do it properly and get a proper full fat Range Rover with either the supercharged V8, or the TDV8.

I don't like the Sport - IMO they are very tacky and nowhere near as nice to sit in or drive as the proper one.

I agree. I'll take an XC60 anyday.

I've had full size Range Rovers. I've driven the Sports and while the full Range Rover is a bit nicer inside, the Sport's not bad, at least in comparison to the older Range Rovers and other sport luxury SUVs. And it drives VERY nicely on road, while still having decent offroad chops when necessary (and you know it's rarely necessary). And to me, the Sport looks more like my Classics, which i like better (the full zoot Rangie is a bit bland on the exterior). The Evoque is for those that want the Range Rover/Land Rover experience in a smaller package that's easier to use in urban areas while stil ahving that all season, all condition ruggedness.

I really like smaller luxury vehicles (I know, ironic coming from a guy with a long wheelbase 7 series), and would enjoy it if more people got the luxury they needed in smaller packages.

Fair enough, different people like different things!

I couldn't help feeling that the Sport felt far too similar to a Discovery to drive, and if I were to spend that much money I would want something that felt really special - so I would buy the FFRR.

True. I adore the Volvo XC60 but the Evoque is a different breed of animal.

I wouldn't mind driving the Evoque. Nor would it matter if people will look at me as the best new hairstylist in town.

The fact that Land Rover made a brilliant effort to come up with a small crossover that is fashionable, unique and off-road capable makes me blush like a freakin' retard.

The Disco felt too top heavy and tipsy to me, especially when going around corners. The lower and wider RR Sport felt more planted in the corners. And the interior was better, to me. the full Range Rover was even nicer inside, but the Sport fit it's role (and was better than my '01 RR HSE by far)

Was the 01 still the P38?

A white Evoke parked next to me yesterday, they are much smaller than I thought. Looked fairly smart though, but I wouldn't buy one. I will see if I can get a go in one and see how they drive and report back :)

Yet another nice car Chris! I assume yours was the 4.6 V8?

Seen a few of these at good prices recently, but they do have the potential to be a bit of a money pit. How well did your one last? I know of one that is getting a full engine rebuild at the moment, but the rest of the car is in full working order.

Mine was trouble free from when I got it at about 60k miles all the way up to 100k miles when I sold it. The only thing I did was at 100k miles I replaced the air ride suspension bags and re-oringed the air distribution block (the airbags were starting to get worn) so that it would last for another 100k miles. it was actually quite cheap and easy to do (the bags were $100 each and the o-ring kit was $50).

Very nice cars Chris :)

I have a big soft spot for the old RR Classic, don't see very many about these days which is a shame.

theres one down here with a TVR 5.0L lump in place of the old 3.9 V8. It makes a beautiful sound, straight pipes and such!

Oh, edit here, I had a look at an Evoque today, got close to it as it was in a multi-level car park. I really love it now, are they all 3 door?
Interior is nice too, looks like it hugs you if thats a good way of describing it?
It had the SD4 engine, which without looking, Im assuming is a 2/2.2diesel?
