Hyundai presented new info about their new model that will be produced in Russian, project called "Solaris".

The car is a 4 door models with two possible engines: a 4 cylinders 1.4 l Gamma engine that will develop 109 hp and a 1.6 l Gamma engine that will develop 124 hp. I prefer the second one.
The Korean brand expects to sell around 85,000 cars per year and if it works, they will launch the hatchback (5-door) version in 2011.
We have to wait for the price list and we can tell then if it's good deal or not.

The Solaris name comes from a competition held earlier this year. According to Hyundai, "Solaris", derived from the Latin Sol, "implies Hyundai Motor's strong will to expand its business in the Russian Federation".

Major differences deemed necessary for the Russian market include a new front end with boomerang fog lights, less swoopy headlights with bi-color bezels, and a more blunt hexagonal grille area with a less-pronounced chin. Inside, both the Solaris and Accent should be about the same, but differences may include some trim colors/options.

it will be making sure that Russian Solares will be prepped and ready to handle the harsh Russian environment, including as standard a rear heating duct, 4.0-liter washer fluid reservoir (with low level sensor), a 60Ah (ampere-hour) battery "for higher cold start performance", front and rear mudguards, and a set of enduro (1,500 hour) headlamps.

Optional add-ons for our deep-north Siberian readers include a wiper de-icer, heated driver/front passenger seats, heated mirrors, and an automatic "Emergency Stop Signal" that turns on should an accident occur.

Looking at their new addition, I think they'll be able to reach their 85k target.

The Hyundai Solaris looks nice. I noticed this thread is a little old. Has anyone seen and read about the new Hyundai Veloster? It's won numerous awards for design and economic value, and has BlueLink! I can't wait to get one, hopefully I can convince my girlfriend to let me trade in my Ford Taurus.
