OK, like you said it is beautiful, and I don't even like cruiser cars. Why are you going to make a drag car out of it? Sure it has a V12 but do you really want ot put the abuse on it? I would say keep the Jag for getting laid and buy a car like a Mustang or GM F body for the strip.

why not a jag? mustangs and f bodys were never sold over here and parts have to be shipped in witch makes them expensive for parts and consumables plus how many stangs/ fbodys are there out there i dont wan`t just another clone If i`m going to the effort of building it I want it to stand out in the crowd but thats just my (as you yanks say) $0.02 and thats whats great about this hobby everyone has a view, if everone just liked the same thing it would be pritty boring. veriety is the spice of life as they say!!

Welcome to CF!

I don't think I have come across an XJS drag car before... so you certainly will stand out!

Have you managed to overcome the.......issues......that affected most (pretty much every) XJS models?

what one of the isues do you mean the rust the shity electrical conectors anything with lucas on the side the bushes made out of chewing gum the way it leaks oil like a nigerian oil well the way the rear window leaks on to the fuel tank that then rusts letting petrol leak out into the boot the fuel injector pipes that have a habit of spliting spraying petrol over the engine the steel brake pipes that rot through so you have no brakes (this happend to me lucky i was just backing of my drive, the day before I was on the M25) or about a million over things

Yeah your right with the 'stand out from the crowd' but my point is using a Jag for a strip car.

I like the ar, unusual is always better (i think), but im not really into drag racing.......although there IS one car id like to see on a strip!
Earlier this month i went to the Autosport International motorsport show and among one of the cars i saw was a Rover SD1 owned by a mag called Practical Performance Car and what they did to it was taken the engine out and put a Rolls Royce Meteor 27L V12 (the meteor is the un-supercharged version of the merlin that powered the spitfire etc), i have photos but ive ost the cd to install the programme i need to put it on the laptop, but heres a vid of it i found on youtube........

(Plus, I got Stirlin Moss's autograph  )

I'm surprised at how clean it runs.
